How To Apply for National Social Housing Programme (NSHP) and Own a Home for N2 Million: nshp.gov.ng

The Federal Government of Nigeria, through the CBN, has committed N200 billion to the housing scheme of the Economic Sustainability Plan (ESP) which kicked off this week. Remember that, in June 2020, President Muhammadu Buhari approved the 2.3 Trillion Naira Economic Sustainability Plan (ESP) prepared by the Osinbajo-led Economic Sustainability Committee. The resultant plan is the NSHP Scheme. This scheme is expected to provide 300,000 affordable and modest homes for ordinary citizens of Nigeria. The Scheme

Nigerians will now be able to acquire houses built by the Nigerian Federal Government for as low as N2 million. Industry observers have envisaged that the introduction of this scheme will not only provide cheap homes for ordinary citizens of the country, it will also create over 1.8m jobs for established developers, start-up and existing small-medium scale professional contractors (architects, engineers, quantity surveyors, accountants, etc). The Social Housing (NSHP) scheme of the ESP will build about 300,000 very affordable houses for Nigerians.

This week, a portal has been made available to Nigerians to either register as a beneficiary or a delivery partner. The portal was launched by the Family Homes Fund (FHF), a Federal Government agency that has been saddled with the responsibility of implementing the scheme.

The Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to the President in the Office of the Vice President, Mr. Laolu Akande further disclosed that more than 20 States including the FCT have already expressed interest and support in the program. Others have offered free land for the constructions of the houses. Meanwhile, criteria for selection of beneficiaries for the NSHP Housing Program is just be a Nigerian.

The ESP Update highlighted the NSHP first respondent states as Osun, Enugu, Ogun, Delta, Bauchi, Kebbi, Nasarawa, Plateau, and the Federal Capital Territory where the first set of construction sites have been indicated. Other states like Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, Imo, Cross River, Sokoto, Kaduna, Zamfara, Katsina, Borno and Yobe are now gearing to add their weights to the scheme.

The Portal

For individuals:

1. The NSHP portal url is https://nshp.gov.ng Type this into your browser (accessible via mobile or PC)
2. Choose Individual (for ordinary citizens of Nigeria seeking to own a home individually)
3. Fill your personal details e.g first name, last name, date of birth, address, etc.
4. Enter your background details e.g your sector, employment status, current rent rate, average monthly income, etc
5. Pick your housing needs. The available options are: 2-rooms (N2 million), 3-rooms (N2.75 million), 4-rooms (N3.5 million).
6. Choose where you want your home e.g the state, local government of choice, etc
7. Submit

For Cooperatives:

1. The NSHP portal url is https://nshp.gov.ng Type this into your browser (accessible via mobile or PC)
2. Choose Cooperatives (for registered groups and their members)
3. Fill in the basic information of the registered group e.g CAC registration number, state, email, etc
4. Fill in the details of the principal officers and positions held
5. Enter background details of the group e.g number of active members, contribution, etc
6. Select the housing needs of the beneficiaries e.g state, lga of choice, etc
7. Answer all requisite questions and Submit

For Partnerships:

2. Choose Partnerships (for Nigerian Developers and Producers)
3. Choose the category of delivery partner you wish to operate within.
4. Fill all required partner details
5. Submit
