Luke 4:15-22 (Tap the Bible passage to read)
15 He was teaching in their synagogues,(A) and everyone praised him.
16 He went to Nazareth,(B) where he had been brought up, and on the Sabbath day he went into the synagogue,(C) as was his custom. He stood up to read,(D) 17 and the scroll of the prophet Isaiah was handed to him. Unrolling it, he found the place where it is written:
18 “The Spirit of the Lord is on me,(E) because he has anointed me to proclaim good news(F) to the poor.
He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners
and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free,
19 to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.”[a](G)
20 Then he rolled up the scroll, gave it back to the attendant and sat down.(H) The eyes of everyone in the synagogue were fastened on him. 21 He began by saying to them, “Today this scripture is fulfilled(I) in your hearing.”
22 All spoke well of him and were amazed at the gracious words that came from his lips. “Isn’t this Joseph’s son?” they asked.(J)

Today’s Key Message:
For many years, the children of Israel had read the prophecies concerning the first advent of the Messiah in the Scriptures. Many had eagerly looked forward to witnessing the fulfilment of the prophecies. However, to some people, it appeared as if the prophecy existed only on the pages of the Bible and might not translate into a reality. Their delusion made them ignorant of the fulfilment of the prophecy concerning the arrival of the expected Messiah, Jesus Christ, the Saviour of the world.
From the text, the age-long prophecy became fulfilled. The Messiah that was long awaited suddenly appeared in the temple. As Christ read the passage, all eyes were fastened on him. He pointedly told them that “This day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears.” The people knew that the application Jesus made was to Himself but they could only accept Him as a good teacher but not as the Messiah. Despite outstanding miracles that took place by the hand of Jesus Christ at Capernaum, the unbelief of the people of Nazareth robbed them of many heart-breaking miracles.
The Scripture cannot be broken; everything that God has ever spoken will certainly come to pass. Heaven and earth shall pass away but a jot of God’s word will not pass unfulfilled. Do not lose faith and hope in the fulfilment of His promises for your life because God is able to accomplish whatever He has promised to do.
As the prophecies concerning Jesus were all fulfilled, likewise the prophecy of His second coming will soon be fulfilled. To be ready for the Lord’s return, you need to make personal preparation. Repentance, restitution, holy living, soul-winning, watchfulness and prayer are all inevitable indices of our preparation to making rapture when the Lord returns to take His people home.
Today’s Theme: Every prophecy in God’s word will be fulfilled.
